Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va. -- The U.S. Marine Corps hosted the Maven Smart System Summit, Aug. 25–28, 2026, in Stafford, Virginia, bringing together stakeholders from across Headquarters Marine Corps, Marine Forces components, the Fleet Marine Force, and supporting organizations to advance service-wide integration of artificial intelligence-enabled command-and-control capabilities.
Representing the Force Design Enterprise, Lt. Gen. Eric Austin, Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration, opened the summit and underscored the importance of integrating advanced capabilities that improve how the Marine Corps plans, operates, and contributes to the Joint Force. The event also helped inform the 2027 MSS Implementation Plan as the service continues building the governance, sustainment, training, and operational frameworks needed to scale data-centric and software-defined tools for Marines.
The summit reinforced Marine Corps alignment with broader Department and naval efforts through participation from the Office of the Secretary of Defense Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office Maven Smart System program office and Navy Overmatch, including discussions on integration in edge and tactical environments.
The Summit addressed the growing demand for MSS across the force, noting that approximately 5,500 Marines used MSS on SIPR during the previous month. Working sessions focused on data and Foundry governance, intelligence, logistics, edge and tactical systems, and training, while also reinforcing the role of Project Dynamis and Task Force Maven in supporting Marine Corps modernization and contribution to Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control.
