Sailors deployed aboard USS Lewis B. Puller go underway and conduct Small Vessel Operations Pier (SVOP) demonstration, Oct. 18, 2017. The SVOP demonstration tested the abilities of USS Puller crew to deploy and retrieve the pier, which acts as a platform for small boat resupply and other operations. USS Puller, named after one of the most decorated members of the U.S. Marine Corps – Lt. Gen. Lewis “Chesty” Puller, was commissioned as a U.S. Navy warship Aug. 17, 2017 in Bahrain and will remain forward deployed in support of a broad range of missions in the U.S. 5th Fleet.
