April 14, 2020 | 0:46
April 14, 1973, marks the birthday of Maj. Douglas A. Zembiec who was known as the "Lion of Fallujah" for his actions under fire during the second Battle of Fallujah in 2004. Then Capt. Zembiec, the commander for Company E, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, described his Marines’ fending off of attacks against a force outnumbering them as “they fought like lions.” Zembiec was killed May 11, 2007, when insurgent forces attacked his assault team during a patrol. It was the 34-year-old’s fourth deployment to Iraq. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl.
