Maximizing the Marine Corps' Aviation Combat Element with the F-35B

The F-35B Lighting II Joint Strike Fighter is a fifth-generation fighter aircraft that provides the capabilities to sustain and maximize the effectiveness of the Marine Corps' aviation combat element. The operational testing (OT-1) of the F-35B evaluated and assessed the integration of the F-35B into Marine Corps aviation while operating across different flight, maintenance and logistical operations that are seen in the Marine Corps' operating forces. Interviews with Maj. Paul Holst and Capt. Brian Hansell, both F-35B pilots from VMFAT-501.
