Marine Corps Systems Command Chief of Staff Col. Michael Manning retired after 36 years of service during a March 25 ceremony aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. During the event, Manning applauded those who influenced his career, the importance of his faith and the unyielding love and support from his family. Manning has held command billets from infantry platoon up to and including battalion command, and his staff billets include battalion and regimental operations officer, executive officer and Division G-3A. He is the recipient of the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with two gold stars and Combat V, Purple Heart Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Combat Action Ribbon with gold star.
