U.S. Marine Raiders, U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command, gather at a dedication ceremony where the Marine Special Operations School academic facility will be named in honor of Gunnery Sergeant Jonathan W. Gifford. at Stone Bay N.C, 20 July 2016. GySgt Gifford was killed in action July 29, 2012 while deployed to Afghanistan with 2D Marine Raider Battalion and was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross.
