2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, awarded the Silver Star medal posthumously to Sgt. Wade D. Wilson, a platoon sergeant who was killed during combat operations in Afghanistan when he risked his own life to protect his Marines. The medal was presented to Wilson's mother, Cindy Easterling, during a ceremony at Camp San Mateo, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, CA. Ceremony was shot live to tape, switched.
