Leaders from Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing were introduced to “Lean In Circles” during an event at the base theater, Feb. 23, 2016. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced Sept. 15, the Department of Defense’s partnership with LeanIn.Org, an organization founded by Facebook’s chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg. Although the organization’s original intent is to empower women in the workplace, DOD leadership recognized the value of making military Circles gender-inclusive.
